Attended by Beşiktaş, Lokomotiv Moscow, Milan and Al Ahli teams, the Istanbul Cup 2014 Beach Soccer Tournament has ended. “Yurtbay Seramik” was the main sponsor of the event. The tournament, which is scheduled on the FIFA approved “Beach Soccer Worldwide” calendar, took place in a special area on Caddebostan coastline. It was a scene of great contest throughout the three days of the tournament.
Two matches were played daily and the tournament finals were held yesterday. At the final match of Yurtbay Seramik’s Istanbul Cup 2014 Beach SoccerTournament, Beşiktaş lost the championship title to its competitors due to its defeat of 8-6 to Lokomotiv Moscow. The black and whites received the second place trophy with the goal difference. Despite its superiority in the first two matches, where Beşiktaş defeated Dubai representative Al Ahli 6-5 and Italian team Milan 6-4, Beşiktaş could not maintain their performance in the last match. Beşiktaş received their second prize from Yurtbay Seramik Sales Manager Kemal Saygı.
In the other match of the last day, Milan beat Al Ahlia 4-3. As three teams completed the tournament with six points each, the ranking was determined by goal difference. Russian team Lokomotiv Moscow became champions, Beşiktaş placed second and Milan placed third. Having lost all its matches, Al Ahli placed last with no points. Yurtbay Seramik Istanbul Cup 2014 was the last leg of the global tournaments organized by FIFA for the development of beach soccer in the recent years. Held in Turkey for the first time, the event attracted great interest. Following the final match, Yurtbay Seramik team posed for a souvenir photo with players from all teams.
